A CCTV drain survey uses a small waterproof camera pushed through your pipes, so you and the engineer can see exactly what is happening underground. It is not needed for every job, but in the right situations it saves guesswork and money.

Repeat blockages: if the same drain keeps blocking after it has been cleared, there is usually a reason, such as a dip in the pipe, a displaced joint or root ingress. A camera shows the cause rather than just the symptom.

Before agreeing repairs or relining: no-dig relining can fix many cracked or damaged pipes, but only where the pipe is suitable. A survey shows the condition, length and position of the damage, so any repair is based on evidence rather than assumption.

Suspected cracks, leaks or subsidence worries: damp patches, sinking paving or persistent smells near a drain run can point to damaged pipework. A survey can confirm or rule this out.

Buying a property: a pre-purchase survey can flag drainage problems before you commit, especially with older homes or properties with large trees nearby.

When you may not need one: a single, straightforward blockage that clears fully and does not come back often needs nothing more than jetting or rodding. We will tell you honestly if a survey is not worth it.

You can read more about how surveys, jetting and relining fit together on our Services page.
